The Rotary Club of McHenry welcomed its own Jim Vyduna who recently returned from a skiing trip in British Columbia who gave a program on snow skiing and avalanche safety.  After some informative power point videos of a skier sliding a down a steep mountain slope, Jim carefully explained the extensive equipment needed for this alpine sport and survival.   Of special interest was his demonstration of a special inflated protection device use in case of an avalanche.  He noted that each skier carries a GPS that pinpoints his or her location as well as a signal emitter in case of being covered under snow.  Vyduna provided the program Thursday, April 17th, at the regular noon meeting in the McHenry Country Club.
