Flavia Susaro, who was an exchange student with our club 30 years ago, attended our regular meeting, Thursday, September 5th, at the McHenry Country Club, and present the program.  She is shown between Janice and Phil Bartmann in the attached photograph.  She was good friends with their daughter while attending the Johnsburg school.

The Rotary Club of McHenry  welcomed Flavia Susaro from Sao Paulo, Brazil,  this week, who was a Rotary Exchange student of this club in 1983.  She has returned to the area for the 30th reunion of her graduating class at Johnsburg High School.   She briefly addresses the club on her activities over which include translations of many English films into Portuguese. She noted that her earlier visit was difficult because of the lack of modern day communications and dependency on land lines to talk to her family back home.  When asked about a comparison with the United States, she noted that her country hasn't kept up with maintenance of public roads and services as well as suffering from increased corruption.   She also noted she has gotten married, lived in Florida, and has returned to Brasil to continue her translating work.  She noted that she once translated for Tom Cruise.  The club gave her a warm applause following her presentation.
