Glenda L. Miller, Chief Deputy Treasurer for McHenry County, Guest Speaker, January 24th

Glenda L. Miller, MBA, Chief Deputy Treasurer of McHenry County and a native of Harvard, Illinois, noted that the county collected 800 million dollars in taxes last year.  Among the property taxes, there were some 10,000 appeals due to the confusion of lower property values and higher taxes.  She spoke of the “Property and Tax Assessment Cycle.”    The assessment has to do with the property valuation and the tax with the revenue goals of the government.  Added to this is that each township in the county does their assessment differently.   After her talk, several members asked questions and her presentation was well received.
