CLUB HEARS TALK ON ADVOCACY FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED YOUTH AND ADULTS

Cindy Sullivan, Executive Director of Options & Advocacy of McHenry County addressed the McHenry Rotary Club recently on the work that her organization does in helping persons with developmental disabilities of all ages.
She especially noted the critical need for funding support and the hope for passage of a helpful tax increase for this purpose on April 9th. She says in the five years she has been with the program, there has been no increase by the state in funding and that Illinois ranks 50th among all the states in supporting advocacy efforts. All though the organization serves all ages, Sullivan noted that they receive referrals for about 1,000 babies each year above and beyond older youth and adults.
