We provide scholarships to individual students.

The purpose of the scholarships is to serve our shared local community by fostering post secondary education.  Annually, we provide a vocational scholarship to a local student to attend an educational program that is not part of a four-year college program and scholarships to other students attending a four-year college or university.

The program is advertised through counseling offices of four local high schools.  Each school is provided the necessary information and application forms.

All graduating high school seniors who are legal residents of McHenry School District 156 or Johnsburg Community Unit School District 12 are eligible.  This includes both public and private school students.  The current schools to which this pertains are McHenry High School (East and West campuses), Johnsburg High School and Marian Central Catholic High School.  Marian Central students compete against students from the tree public schools and are assigned to one of the three based on where they live.

Students are selected by committee of Rotarians based on a combination of past academic performance, financial need, an essay, their knowledge of the purposes of Rotary, and their responses to interview questions.

The committee interviews all candidates on the same night and selects a winner.  Schools are notified of the winners names and winners are notified at that school's senior awards night.

The number and amount of scholarships is determined by the membership of the Rotary Club of McHenry.

The selection committee consists of Rotary Club of McHenry members.
